IBM i Magic Tricks
"At no time will my hands leave my arms!"
presented by Trevor Seeney, Sentinex Inc. www.sentinex.com
This session is a reprise of the COMMON session of the late nineties called AS/400 Magic Tricks.
Come see the screen scroll from left to right, see parts of the display shuffled around and witness a complete twirl of the whole screen image. See how messages and message-queues can be used to perform asynchronous functions and monitor the status of batch jobs. See commands execute from within SEU and again during compilation. Witness Signon and FTP passwords being harvested without using a Trojan Horse. Watch as a program-described report is rendered in the browser.
The first twenty minutes of this presentation will be a light-hearted display of these tricks. The attendee will learn how the tricks were performed and how the techniques employed therein can be employerd in more serious applications.
A special focus will be placed on demonstrating how to convert, in a matter of minutes, a program-described print program to render into the browser using RPG Special files. How to conceal passwords used in batch FTP scripts and how comtemporary Geo-Location techniques available on SmartPhones such as the iPhone, can be coupled with the IBMi.
Whether you are a rookie or a veteran, they will be something for you to try out on your IBMi the next day.
