Modernization has been an interesting buzzword in IT for some years now, but seems to remain popular as a means to get companies to rip and replace, spend money, install Windows and get to the web. With all the conflicting industry noise and vendor speak, it is difficult for the IT leader to design their own modernization roadmap and take the first step.
This session clarifies many of the choices available to IT shops for modernization, with a focus on companies with IBM i servers in their organization. It will help you sort through the vendor noise, and understand which steps are best to take next, and what additional research should be undertaken. These topics will include infrastructure modernization, developer tools, web enabling, user experience, new languages, and several other overview topics.
There is a clear lack of strategy being employed in business, and especially in IT. In this session you will find a new approach to IT Strategy. This approach means IT managers can set themselves apart from what appears to be a traditional IT organization, facilitate their organization to become more competitive, improve profits, expand market share, grow the organization and increase shareholder value.
This approach is not revolutionary, just a simpler method. It will clarify, encourage, and exhort IT managers to dip their toe into the modernization pond, confident in the capabilities of their IT department to be effective for the larger organization. With constant pressure from companies to 'do more with less' and regulation and governance driving much IT activity, it is time for you to take your IT world to a new orbit
