In addition to standard file and terminal functions, ssh can also be used to build secure tunnels through a network. Since V5R3 ssh has been available for i5/OS as a no-charge LPO 5733-SC1. We will explain how to install and setup ssh, how  to use ssh to move data around the network, how ssh can be used to communicate with the HMC and manage resources under program control.

+++ After the introduction to SSL we will show how to enable SSL support in the TELNET and FTP applications of the i5/OS. This provides encrypted 5250 or data transfer sessions across a network such as the Internet. The techniques demonstrated will also apply to other applications in i5/OS. +++
